Premium Wine Grapes

The grapes offered by Brehm Vineyards are selected by Peter Brehm. In many cases, Peter selects in the spring exactly which rows of vines that we will harvest from.

 

Brehm Vineyards offers home winemakers premium quality wine grapes from select vineyards in California, Washington and Oregon.

From the soil to the glass, Peter Brehm is a student of the cycles, the processes, the equipment, and the problems of vines, wines and musts. Peter has launched thousands of winemakers into the world of winemaking. He has experienced some form of grape growing and winemaking in California, Washington, Australia and New Zealand.

 

Brehm Vineyards contracts for specific grapes from selected, premium vineyards. Grapes are chosen on the basis of the quality of wine they produce and the skill and dedication of the vineyardist who cultivates the fruit.

 

Red grapes are destemmed, crushed and frozen. White grapes are pressed and the settled juice is frozen. The freezing process reduces bacteria and unwanted natural yeast, while not altering the character or quality of the resulting wine. Freezing does contribute to better color extraction and increases the yield for red grapes.

 

This freezing process was pioneered by Peter Brehm in 1974. Many wine makers have won prestigious awards with the wine made from Peter's fresh and frozen grapes and juice.
